The size of a football

On the phone with my anut this afternoon and she asked me if Madelynn was bigger than a football. Then I realized that would make a great picture. So we took some pictures and no, she is not bigger than a football.

Few more pics

Here are some more pics to compare. She really so so stinkin' cute!!!

Her 1st nap in her crib

Here she is sleeping in her "big girl" bed. She has bee taking naps in her crib. It is so cute. We have a video monitor and it is in her room. It is so cute to watch her sleeping on it. Especially as she is waking up and she wiggles around and stretches. It is so cute!!!

Who do I look like?

Well, everyone who meets Madelynn tries to figure out who she looks like. Some say me, some say Bruce and many say a mix. Well, you be the judge.

Ok, here's Madelynn 11 days old
Bruce about 2 weeks old
Me a couple days old.
The pictures of me and Bruce are pictures I took of pictures so they are not the greatest copies, but I think you can still tell.
So, what do you think?

1st Week

We have had a very busy week. We have had tons of visitors. Everyone couldn't wait to hold her. It was hard to share but we made it. My mom stayed with my until Thursday which was great. She really didn't want to leave. I am sure she will be back up soon.

The Dr. saw her on Tuesday and said her she looked a little jaundice so we had her blood drawn. If she was a little bigger and not 2 weeks early he would not have worried but they were a little high for her age and size. So she has been on the "billy blanket" - light blanket all week and going out in the sun. We had to have her blood drawn on Wednesday and Friday also. The levels have started to go down but she has to stay on the blanket for the weekend.
Here's our radioactive baby. She is so cute. Look at those cheeks!

Well, other than that life is good. She eats very well, sleeps wells and likes to smile. It has been the best week of my life. I feel great and am try to get rest and not do too much. We like to sit on the back porch while she lays in her bouncer in the sun. Here she is trying to suck her fist like her cousin Shelby.

MADELYNN RUTH HATCH

She is here!!!! I can't believe it. 2 weeks early--I thought she would be late. I can't believe she is a week old already. Last Saturday seems like forever ago and yet it went so quickly. She is so precious!!!
So this is the run down of what happened. I got up about midnight Friday night to go to the bathroom, as I often did, and realized I was peeing down my leg. Thought that was strange. Then I realized it was probably my water not pee. I called for Bruce, he slept right though it, so I decided to go call my sister to see what she thought. She said she was sure it was my water and I really should call the Dr. So I did and the nurse said, "Are you sure you didn't just have a really full bladder?" My response..."I am standing here peeing as we speak with no control over it." She decided I should come in. It was perfect. Bruce had just gotten back from Vegas on Wednesday and Meghan had just arrived in ABQ at 8:30 that night. God is so good!!! So I showered, packed my bag and called my family and told them to get ready. We got to the hospital and I was at 2cm and the Dr. would not be in until 7:00ish. We waited, contractions got stronger, and my family was on their way.

Dr. checked me at 7:30 is was only at 3cm. He started me on pitocin (not sure of the spelling there) and the contractions got serious. I wanted some drugs. Got some in my IV but I really wanted the epidural. When it got too hard to stand I asked for more drugs, but I was at 9cm and they would not let me. At that moment I decided it hurt too bad and I had changed my mind and didn't want to do this anymore. Apparently it was too late for that choice. I "pushed" on :)

I pushed for about 1/2 and hour, they had to use suction because her heart rate was dipping and then there she was. It was so amazing. I still can't believe it.

I just wish my dad was there, I know he would have been so proud of me. Bruce was so happy, my family was all there and got to welcome her into the world. It was such a miracle.

She was born on my dad's best friend's birthday - Terry Moore. It was perfect.

3 stitches and we were done and I got to hold my beautiful baby. Bruce was an amazing coach. He is such a proud dad and loves her to death. It is amazing to see him with her.

25 Days to go

According to my little counter, I have 25 days left. I realize it could be more or less. I am ready though, anyday now. Well, Bruce goes to Vegas on Monday so not then. I am starting to get really uncomfortable and HOT. I am trying to stay busy but my long-lasting energy does not seem to be there. I have so much work I should be doing in the yard, but it is not happening. I seem to only accomplish one small thing a day. Hopefully I will have a burst of energy soon. Bruce hooking up the air conditioner would probably help.
We went to look at new cars last nigh (well used, but new to us). I have a Ford Fussion I have had for a few years but I wanted something a little bigger. I think we found one, we will just have to see how the loan process/payments and all of that stuff goes today. I am very excited. It is a Ford Flex and very comfortable. A little "mom wagon" looking, but I really don't care. I have never been into cars and things like that. I go for comfort and practicality. It is white with leather seats. It seats up to 8 so it should last us quite sometime, although anyone who know us knows that we tend to change cars on a regular basis (this would be our 7th car in 7 years of marriage). I don't know what is wrong with us.

I go to the doctor tomorrow so I will let you all know how that goes. I feel huge, but then some people say I am not that big. They are crazy of course. I get short of breath very easily because she is under my ribs! I will post a picture as soon as I get a chance.

I am hoping to get a computer and Internet at home soon and may try facebook at some point. I signed up on my friend's computer in order to see my sister-in-laws photos, but I can't access Facebook at school and that is the only computer we have. I know, we are not really into technology in our house.

Well, that is all I have for updates right now.
